Oakland (Special to ZennieReport.com) – Longtime Bay Area media professional and East Bay native, Casey Pratt, is joining Mayor Sheng Thao’s team as the new Chief of Communications for the Mayor’s Office, effective immediately. Prior to accepting the role, Pratt served as Senior Sports Producer and Anchor for ABC7.
“We are honored to welcome Casey as part of our team,” said Mayor Sheng Thao, “I look forward to his contributions and his expertise as a talented journalist to help tell the story of our impact and the communities we serve.”
“I have enjoyed a deep connection with the people of Oakland my entire life and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve them,” said Pratt. “My family history in Oakland dates back to the 1870s. From my father to my great-great-great grandfather—I come from a long line of proud Oaklanders and I am honored to be part of this city and in this role.”
Pratt began his career with ABC 7 as an intern in 2006 and earned a Sports Producer job right out of his internship. In 2019, he left to launch NBC Sports Bay Area/California before returning to ABC 7 in 2016 where he went on to become a producer, reporter and anchor, covering Bay Area sports stories such as the Warriors NBA championships, the 49ers’ Super Bowl appearances, and the Oakland A’s. Pratt is a two-time Emmy Award-winner and an Edward R. Murrow Award-winner.
Pratt earned his BA in journalism from San Francisco State University.

Zennie62Media Extends Heartfelt Congratulations To Our Friend Casey Pratt On His Next Journey
Casey was a guest on one of our most fun livestreams. This one had him, Oakland Mayor Elihu Harris, Oakland A’s, Warriors, 49ers, and Sports Exec Andy Dolich, Zennie62Media’s Richard Haick, and myself:
We wish Casey Pratt luck in Oakland City Hall. He’s going to a politically-tough place to be.
Stay tuned.
