The news came via Axios which broke the story while the sports world was watching the Warriors beat the Rockets in Game 7: President Trump will join NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Washington Commanders Owner Josh Harris will be in the Oval Office to announce that the 2027 NFL Draft will be in Washington DC. The prediction here is the 2027 NFL Draft will set the NFL record for attendance, beating Detroit’s 775,000 with 1 million.
Yes, 1 million. If the NFL Draft is held in front of the Capital with that great arch stage, and with the Great Lawn as the place where NFL Fans gather, then an attendance of 1 million or more for the NFL Draft is not impossible. That would break down to 400,000 for Draft Day, 300,000 for Day 2 and another 300,000 for NFL Draft Day 3, weather permitting.
It would mark an exciting sports events coming out party for Washington D.C. and the Washington Commanders.
