Post 49ers Win Over Browns “NFL On Fox” Make Racist Shedeur Sanders Photo On Instagram

The San Francisco 49ers at 8 and 4 were the pre-game favorites to win the NFL Game against the Cleveland Browns. The contest was of interest to many because it was the second start for popular former Colorado Quarterback Shedeur Sanders. But does that mean “NFL On Fox” had to use an arguably racist depiction of Sanders after the game and on social media? Yep. Sourdough Sam, the 49ers mascot, is depicted by “NFL On Fox” as hauling a subdued, rope-tied, head-hanging Shedeur Sanders in a wheel barrel. The top of picture shows the final score “26-8” and the caption reads “

Shedeur Sanders has been the focus of a number of media accounts, not to mention College Football and NFL actions, that many have described as racist. Discussions around racism toward Shedeur Sanders intensified following his unexpected slide to the fifth round (144th overall pick) of the 2025 NFL Draft. Sports analysts, former players, and fans have debated whether this was due to legitimate football evaluations or racial bias and character judgments that disproportionately affect Black athletes. Now, add to all of that, this “NFL on Fox” Instagram post, today.

Needless to say just reading the comments, it did not go over well:

“Love the win. Idk bout all “that”…comes across a lil racy….😬😆”

“Ain’t do this to any other losing qb all season”

“Take this down while you still can..”

“You can admit this is wild. No other QB has ever had this type of post made about them”

“Like I’m trying to not read into it but it’s got my spidey senses tinkling”

That, on top of posts with videos saying “That’s racist”. Because, it is.

Those of you who may not get why the NFL on Fox post is racist should just go to Google and type “depiction of black man roped”. This is some of what you will get:

Images associated with the phrase “depiction of black man roped” often relate to sensitive and disturbing subjects, primarily the 2019 viral photo of Galveston police officers leading a handcuffed Black man by a rope, or historical depictions of slavery and lynchings. Historically, the image of a Black man with a rope evokes the brutal history of racial violence in the United States.

In my case, I immediately thought of LeVar Burton in the 1975 TV Series “Roots”. That was a path-breaking and truth-telling story about blacks in America before and just after slavery.
The main question is who at NFL on Fox approved this photo and why? Is it Jeff Horton, the “Media & Entertainment Leader” as he’s called in Linkedin? Or is it Colin Fuges, the NFL on Fox Production Assistant? Or Nick Rago, the Executive Director of Digital & Social Production? How about Stephanie Medina, listed as Director of FOX NFL Sunday and Access Hollywood, and said to have control over social media?

Whatever the case, they collectively messed up. What was posted is racist and should be removed, ASAP.

Note from ZennieReport.com, Zennie62 YouTube, and ZennieReport.com: this ZennieReport video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. This is what we call “The Third Wave of Media”.

The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the ZennieReport.com Blog site and Zennie62Media -created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, thus less chance for ZennieReport.com, Zennie62 YouTube vloggers to be robbed.

The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
