Shedeur Sanders Cleveland Browns Preseason Game Counters Many 2025 NFL Draft Draftnik Predictions
Prior to the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, predictions of where Shedeur Sanders would go and how well he would do as an NFL QB were exceptionally varied.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, NFL Network draft guru Daniel Jeremiah said there isn’t a consensus belief that Sanders is a future franchise quarterback. “There’s pretty split opinions around the league, it’s pretty polarizing, actually,” Jeremiah said.
Even at Zennie62Media, where we have been credentialed to cover the NFL Draft each year since 2005, NFL Draft Expert Bill Carroll and I disagreed on where Sanders would go and how well he would do. I had him either number one to the Titans or number two to The Browns; Carroll had him falling to the second round.
But I don’t know anyone who said he was dropping to round five of the NFL Draft.
A lot of the reasons for Sanders fall were associated with his being black and male and very confident. The Grio: “Shedeur Sanders’ NFL draft experience shows what Black men know too well— confidence is a threat”. Then the publication noted his 2024 accomplishments:

Today, Shedeur isn’t just battling defenders on the field—he’s battling a culture desperate to humble confident Black men the moment they begin to shine. His confidence is framed as arrogance. His success is treated as a threat. His pride is painted as a character flaw.
Then On Friday, August 8th, Shedeur Sanders Said “My Turn”
Sanders did his talking with his play: 14 of 23 for 138 yards, two touchdown passes. His QB rating was 106.8. But beyond that, Shedeur Sanders showed a poise and command of the game beyond his years. And he managed to shake up the world in the process. We’ll explain why.
