AmeriGas Propane Fitch Ratings Downgraded Due To Customer Service Issues Does AmeriGas Propane Care?
Twice in two years, Fitch Ratings has downgraded AmeriGas Propane. In total, the drop was from B+ to B, and as of May 19th, the outlook was deemed negative.
Why is AmeriGas in this situation? The reason Fitch Ratings listed in its May 2025 Report was “customer service issues disclosed during the 1Q25 earnings call” as a contributing factor.
Fitch Ratings says that AmeriGas passes on rising commodity prices to the consumer, thus producing the customer service problems. But a look at the actual chart shows another story.
The highest propane price was 2022 was 1.5 dollars per gallon; today, it’s at 0.75 dollars per gallon according to Trading Economics. So in 2025 AmeriGas really has been overcharging for propane compared to 2022.
And treating customers terribly like my 90-year-old mother. AmeriGas has told lies about my Mom’s payment history in 2024, pushed a $3,000 payment request for no reason in late November, and tried and tried to price gouge her and did so during January and March of 2025, and now is threatening to disconnect Mom not because she asked but AmeriGas says she’s not happy with their service!
AmeriGas is suddenly bent on harming my 90-year old mother. And I stepped in to ask AmeriGas to stop. So they try to say they want to talk to her instead of her caregiver, me. Who does that? AmeriGas does that.
AmeriGas CEO Michael Sharp can stop this behavior now. But he’s not doing it. AmeriGas was supposed to be better under Michael Sharp and he was certainly nice to me just days before he hit office. Now he’s a different person. Please donate to my GoFundMe for my Mom:
