Chris Carr Georgia AG Should Review Complaints Of AmeriGas Price Gouging In January & March Of 2025

I am Zennie Abraham, and I recently relocated to Georgia from Oakland and to help my Mom, Patricia Yerger, who is now 90 years old as of October of last year. We have a bad situation with AmeriGas Propane. Long story short: after increasing my Mom’s monthly propane from $159 a year ago to as much as $589 in January (and during the Governor’s State of Emergency for Weather, which is illegal as it is price – gouging), now AmeriGas repped by new CEO Michael Sharp and Jennifer S (representative) want to disconnect our service June 2, but are not clear as to even what that means for us? Can we just do business with someone else and no charge? We want to stay with Amerigas and never asked for a disconnect, they did – and their behavior, really Jennifer’s, is really not within the bounds of decency or state law. HELP.

Basically, Amerigas has increased my Moms’ propane cost from $159 last January to as much as $589 January of this year, before a down adjustment to $405 that was still way too high to pay, and my Mom’s on a fixed income and because I am the only child, I have to be here for her and do remote work. I had great clients, but lately a dry spell.

So, I’ve been able to help pay some of that, but it’s like Amerigas is in kahoots with some real estate person and eager to price us out of my Mom’s property she owns. How else to explain what’s going on?

I sent an email to AmeriGas’s CEO Michael Sharpe that tells the story and included in my complaint. (As a note, Michael Sharpe is new to AmeriGas as of last winter. I tracked down his personal email when he was hired and sent a personal ask for help last November. He stopped AmeriGas from charging my Mom $3,100 and removing monthly payment BEFORE HE TOOK OFFICE, but his staff pushes the high price and it’s like someone got to Michael, so he does not respond anymore.).

Here’s what I sent last week:

Greetings,
Say, we’re confused here. Jennifer S. writes a hastily prepared letter stating that our services would be terminated in 30 days. Then we call, no call back. But we get an updated invoice stating that the new minimum payment is $330. Does that mean Mom’s not terminated? Also produced an analysis of the monthly AmeriGas Payment invoices, which showed they went from $159 last January to $589 for January 2025. An increase of over 200 percent.

And that’s during a period of two “State of Emergency” weather-related declarations by the Governor of Georgia, the latest one January of 2025. This invoice data comes directly from AmeriGas’ website.

Also, AmeriGas invoice was not based on any electronically-produced information, just a guess that so happened to lead to an increase of wild proportions and on the back of my 90-year-old Mom. A reader was JUST INSTALLED two weeks ago, and outside the coverage period of the data. That means AmeriGas was flying blind.

Georgia law prohibits a price increase that would be considered gouging during a State of Emergency. The average bill is $134 with increases of up to $234 according to LG Jordan Oil. See: https://ift.tt/3gc0CNJ [consumer.georgia.gov] And: https://ift.tt/PklxqGt [google.com]

I am just asking for you all – heck I am begging for you all – to treat my Mom correctly and within the law. Treat her as one of your own. That’s all I ask.

God bless,
Zennie

That is what I wrote to Mr. Sharp. He has not responded since officially taking office as AmeriGas CEO. By contrast, he was responsive when I reached him before then.

Please check this out Mr. Carr because someone needs to really investigate what AmeriGas is doing to its customers. It’s no wonder they do not have a customer loyalty program.

Best regards,

Zennie Abraham

Note from ZennieReport.com, Zennie62 YouTube, and ZennieReport.com: this ZennieReport video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. This is what we call “The Third Wave of Media”.

The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the ZennieReport.com Blog site and Zennie62Media -created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, thus less chance for ZennieReport.com, Zennie62 YouTube vloggers to be robbed.

The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
