Washington D.C. (Special to ZennieReport.com) – Our new Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) and her staff like Sally Chen have been very good about sending press releases to Zennie62Media on the regular. So, we’re going to make a habit of publishing her message once her emails permit an article of at or over 600 words long. With that in mind, here are three of her latest releases in reverse chronological order.
Congresswoman Simon on Passage of the Continuing Resolution
Today, March 14th, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) released the below statement following Senate passage of the Republican continuing resolution.
“I voted against the partisan funding bill in the House of Representatives earlier this week, and I am deeply disappointed by Senate passage of the bill tonight.
“This spending agreement sells Americans and our government down the river. It makes cuts that will impact veterans, elders, families, and children from every corner of the nation–while giving undue power to President Trump and Elon Musk to control federal spending and shut down federal agencies.
“Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House. Let us be clear that they are responsible for the devastating impacts of this bill. I will continue to do everything in my power to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, and ensure communities in CA-12 have the support they need.”
Congresswoman Simon Announces Over $2 Million in Funding for Local Health Care Programs
Today, March 14th, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) announced over $2,380,000 in funding for Asian Health Services (AHS).
“Asian Health Services serves tens of thousands of patients in the Bay Area and is a critical health care provider for our district. Eighty-three percent of AHS’ patients experience linguistic isolation and ninety-six percent of patients are on Medicare, Medi-CAL, or uninsured. The work they do for our district’s diverse communities is incomparable. I am thrilled to award over $2 million in funding, so AHS can continue their work to keep our children, families, and elders healthy and safe.
“At a time when federal health care and research funding comes under attack—I am focused on ensuring organizations in our district have the resources and support they need.”
During her tenure, Congresswoman Barbara Lee continuously advocated for Asian Health Services and equal access to health care, especially for immigrant and refugee Asian communities—Congresswoman Simon’s funding announcement builds on this decades-long work. Asian Health Services provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to more than 28,000 patients annually in English and 14 other languages including: Korean, Lao, Burmese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, French, Mien, Karen, Mongolian, Karenni, Tagalog, Khmer, and Vietnamese.
