Bryan Azevedo Challenger Ed Hernandez Gets San Leandro Real Estate Developer Money

San Leandro, CA (Special to ZennieReport.com) – The latest news in the race between incumbent San Leandro Councilmember Bryan Azevedo and challenger and former San Leandro Councilmember and real estate broker Ed Hernandez, is the giant sums of money Hernandez has gotten from players in real estate in San Leandro. That includes the same Ed Miller, the developer of the forever-stalled and bankrupt San Leandro Marina project Hernandez got $10,000 from in the 2020 election, where Hernandez lost to Azevedo.

Former San Leandro Councilmember Ed Hernandez

According to the San Leandro Times own words, Ed Hernandez enjoys thousands of dollars from the real estate industry:

“Ed Hernandez has take in total contributions of $77,302.13 through October 9. A few union groups, notably Firefighters Local 55, contributed, but most large contributions were from individuals and companies involved in real estate.

Ed Hernandez works as a commercial real estate broker. He got was $5,500 from the California Real Estate Political Action Committee (CRE-PAC), based in Los Angeles. He also got a $5,500 contribution from San Leandro resident Daniel Finlay, a manager with ConsenSys Software.

Ed Hernandez received multiple large contributions from Factor Avenue LLC (limited-liability corporation) of Walnut Creek, a real estate investment firm, and the related 1910 Fairway LLC, also based in Walnut Creek, which share CEO Ray Gallagher (owner of Scott’s Seafood in Jack London Square in Oakland). That address is for a warehouse they own in San Leandro.

Hernandez got a $1,000 contribution from Ed Miller, CEO of CalCoast, the developer of the marina shoreline project that declared bankruptcy this year. Hernandez has spent $48,810.35, mostly on ordinary campaign expenses such as lawn signs. He also has paid $4,669.52 to the Cassidy Strategy group, headed by former San Leandro Mayor Stephen Cassidy.

Stephen Cassidy And His Daughter Found Illegally Campaigning For Ed Hernandez On School Property

In this campaign news related to Former San Leandro Councilmember Ed Hernandez, a loyal ZennieReport.com reader has photos that have been shared with Zennie62Media, Inc, and proving that Former San Leandro Mayor Stephen Cassidy was illegally campaigning for real estate broker Ed Hernandez on, of all places, school grounds.

Stephen Cassidy Daughter Illegally Campaigns For Ed Hernandez On School Property

And on top of that, as this photo clearly shows, Stephen Cassidy’s daughter is obviously and clearly campaigning for Ed Hernandez votes illegally on school grounds (and becoming a public figure in her own right). Nice to see some of that $4,669.52 went to give Former Mayor Cassidy’s daughter a job, even if she was improperly instructed by her father Mr. Cassidy.

And who is the Former San Leandro Mayor Stephen Cassidy that some refer to as Steven Cassidy and runs Cassidy Strategy? His Linkedin page reports the following:

With two decades of senior leadership experience in the private and public sectors, I possess a substantial record in motivating, collaborating with, and leading diverse teams in reaching strategic goals. My skill and knowledge set includes political campaign management, government relations, public policy advocacy, commercial transactions, complex civil litigation, organizational leadership, public finance and budgeting, municipal planning and zoning, legal marketing and public and media relations. I served as the Mayor of San Leandro, California, and President of the Alameda County Conference of Mayors. An active member of the California Bar, Martindale-Hubbell has awarded me its highest rating of AV Preeminent for over two decades. I am proud to have led political campaigns that have resulted in the passage of over $600 million in school construction bonds and multiple municipal revenue measures.

Bryan Azevedo Gains $44K To Ed Hernandez’ Real Estate Fueled $77K In Campaign Donations

In direct contrast to Former San Leandro Councilmember Ed Hernandez $77,000 in real-estate-fuled campaign donations, incumbent Councilmember Bryan Azevedo has raised $44,000, and mostly from working San Leandro residents who are union members. Azevedo shows total campaign contributions of $39,244.99 through October 9, with most larger contributions coming from labor unions and labor groups. He is a sheet metal worker and member of that union. His expenditures were $23,798.99, with print-
ing and signs making up much of that.

Azevedo got $3,000 from the Sheet Metal Workers Local 104 political action committee, along with $2,000 from Operating Engineers Local 3, $2,500 from Laborers Local 304 and $2,500 from Sprinkler Fitters Local 483.

San Leandro Resident Bernard Ashcroft Unloads On Ed Hernandez, Supports Bryan Azevedo For Reelection

The legendary and well-respected San Leandro Resident Bernard Ashcroft recently came on to Zennie62 YouTube to share his unique story of how San Leandro has changed from being once considered a racist enclave to what today is seen as an incredibly diverse small city in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the video, Mr, Ashcroft reveals that Ed Hernandez, when he was San Leandro Councilmember before Bryan Azevedo beat him in 2020, did not support initiatives for diversity and inclusion , and is seen as one of what he calls “the 15 percent” who do not like how San Leandro has changed.

It’s clear from this Zennie62Media report commissioned by the campaign to reelected Bryan Azevedo as San Leandro City Councilmember (and because Azevedo was the target of a paid blogger who covers East Bay Politics), that Ed Hernandez is not a man of the people for modern San Leandro.

Stay tuned.
